About the position
We have a vacancy for a Research Assistant within the Hydraulic Research Group of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The employment period is a maximum of 2 years with the desired start on 01.08.2022.
The Research Assistant will primarily contribute to strengthening and further developing the teaching of the International Masters (MSc) Program in Hydropower Development (HPD). The position is particularly related to teaching duties (including student supervision) in the program and more. In addition, social contacts with students will be an important task as well as a mission related to the hydraulic research group.
You will report to the research group leader.
- Planning, coordination and management of the practical and teaching aspects of the two-year international master’s program in Hydropower Development (HPD), with English as the language of instruction
- Contribute to the teaching of design, theory and method and the use of digital tools. This includes supervising students in the hydraulics lab and/or in other assignments
- Assistance in the development of new assignments in the HPD program
- Help organize social events, excursions and more for the HDP program, as well as the Hydraulic Research Group
- Other Hydraulic Research Group duties may include participating in research projects in both academic writing, laboratory and field work
Selection criteria required
The position of research assistant must give you the opportunity to have an overview of the work and the scientific or artistic method. The missions are of an academic level and must consist of scientific or artistic assistance.
The appointment must be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning state employees and civil servants and the national guidelines for the appointment as doctor, post-doctoral fellow and research assistant.
- Relevant candidates must have obtained a master’s degree in hydropower development or equivalent. You can apply if you are in the final phase of education and education will be completed by July 2022.
- Good written and oral English skills
Preferred Selection Criteria
- Fluency in the Scandinavian language will be an advantage
- Good initiative and ability to work systematically and independently
- Good collaboration and communication skills
Salary and conditions
Research assistants are paid under code 1020 according to skill and are normally paid a gross amount of NOK 475,800 per year before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. For a period of 2 years.
The engagement must be carried out in accordance with the regulations in force concerning employees and civil servants of the State and the laws relating to the control of the export of strategic goods, services and technologies.
