The Department of Athletics at Milligan University invites applications for the full-time position of

Men’s and women’s assistant swimming coach.

Reporting to the Head Coach of Swimming, this position will work alongside the Head Coach of Swimming and assist the Head Coach in recruiting, developing and mentoring student-athletes to become future servant leaders and the best possible version of themselves. Milligan Swimming recently finished in 5th place in the program at the NAIA Nationals, making this the first year either team finished in the top 10. Additionally, the program had its first national champion and national record holder, both teams won AAC conference titles for the first time in program history and will return over 40 swimmers in the fall of 2022.

The position will require assisting the Head Coach in identifying and recruiting high quality student-athletes, assisting with administrative duties, coaching on deck, and continuing to develop a swim lesson program. A demonstrated ability to mentor student-athletes and enhance their personal, academic and athletic development is essential for the position. The Assistant Coach will also help coordinate team travel, organize events and oversee special projects (team activities, community service) and fundraising. This position also has great potential to develop a clinic/course program for additional income.

Successful candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree and experience in swim coaching at a college, club, or high school. Previous college swimming experience, as well as prior college training, is preferred. A strong desire to succeed, as well as a great work ethic, are essential to this position. Candidates must also have CPR/AED/Lifeguard certifications, but can be obtained after being hired. Other certifications, such as CSCS or USAW, are useful. Successful applicants must also demonstrate a strong Christian faith and a commitment to Milligan’s mission as a Christian liberal arts university. Primary duties and responsibilities would be performed on campus and may require early morning travel as well as travel to any off-site meetings. This is a 12 month position with benefits.
