Linda, born September 27, 1945 in Los Angeles, California, to Frank Raeder and Geraldine (Knee) Raeder, died Thursday, May 12, 2022, of complications from heart failure.
Linda was a bus driver for Brocton Central School for 37 years before retiring. She was a hard worker and jack of all trades. In addition to driving buses, she has worked in the meat department at Loblaws in Westfield NY, painting and cleaning summers at Brocton Central School, Tended bar at Calarco’s Bar in Westfield, and as a receptionist at Westfield Healthcare. Center. Between jobs, Linda also helped out at the Raeder family farm with tying grapes and running the fruit stand. She also put her many talents to work building two houses in her lifetime.
Linda was not just working, she was also enjoying life to the fullest. She played women’s softball for Densmores Bar in Brocton NY for years. She was known to give some pretty crazy and interesting parties. His musical choices reflected his personality at a Tee ranging from country music to AC/DC. Other activities she enjoyed were camping, rafting and boating. Linda loved traveling with her husband Lynn and exploring new routes. But one of his favorite things to do was to sit on the back porch with a fine wine chatting with family and friends while hummingbirds buzzed and his many wind chimes tinkled.
As the matriarch of the family, she took it very seriously, always planning family parties and birthdays. She was the glue that kept the family together even though they were spread from coast to coast. A big hole was left with his passing.
Linda was pursued in death by her parents, her first husband Bill Williams, a brother George Raeder and several nephews, Jerry Raeder, Chad Raeder and Mark Raeder.
Linda is survived by her husband of 17 years Lynn Travis, her daughters Machelle Long (Daric) and Vickie Bogle (Bud). Stepchildren Randy Travis (Teresa), Tammy Travis (Steve), Ron Travis and Lori Travis, 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, sisters Nella Perrine (Bill), Kathy Bovee (John), brothers Mike Raeder, Frank Raeder (Pat) and several nieces and nephews.
At Linda’s request, a celebration of life will be held at the Brocton American Legion in Brocton NY on Sunday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. for one last big hurray. At Leu de Fleurs, donations can be made to Chautauqua Hospice or the Brocton American Legion.
