Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers has an immediate opening for an experienced brewer at our production facility located in Framingham MA. The brewery is currently operating on two shifts 5 days a week and we are looking for someone to fill the 3rd shift. The brewery will begin its night shifts in early summer. The applicant would also be required to train in the cellar. Jack’s Abby prides itself on providing a fun and interactive work environment, but also values ​​individuals with an enthusiasm for excellence and a continuous commitment to improvement. This will be a 4 day work schedule with 8 hour shifts at premium pay. Please apply with a cover letter and curriculum vitae, including professional references.

Expectations:

  • Experience and comfort with the cellar and brewing processes.

  • Comfortable interacting with many different departments and individuals within the production department and throughout the company.

  • Availability and flexibility to work between the cellar and the brewer’s schedule according to the schedule.

  • Participate in all brewery operations including but not limited to: wort production, hop handling, malt handling, spent grains handling, yeast harvesting, beer transfer , dry hopping, packaging, CIP cycles and general cleaning/organizing. Ensure all beer is produced to QA standards and recipes.

  • QC of beer throughout the brewing, fermentation and packaging processes. Follow record keeping for brewing, cellaring and other related actions as required by the department.

  • Adhere to safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials in a safe and responsible manner. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.

  • Knowledge/permit to use forklifts and other operating equipment.

  • Other responsibilities and assigned tasks.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in a cellar/brewing station, previous experience on an automated brewing system is a plus.

  • Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience with Ekos is a plus.

  • Positive and team-oriented attitude, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and team-oriented environment.

  • A problem solver; ability to take initiative and communicate effectively.

  • Organisational skills.

  • Polyglot (Spanish and/or Portuguese) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of the craft beer market/industry and appreciation of the culture that goes with it.

Physical requirements/work environment

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl frequently.

  • Physical labor includes climbing stairs, climbing tanks, pulling pipes, etc.

  • Brewery environment:

    • Conditions can range from wet, hot and cold, depending on the season.

    • Ability to work in frequently noisy environments.

  • Ability/knowledge to work safely with chemicals present in the brewery.

  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds with or without assistance.

  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
