Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has given fans another throwback just weeks after her last ‘mortifying’ trip down memory lane.
The actress has starred in Corrie since 2000, after beating Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh and Hear’Say star Suzanne Shaw to land the role of Maria Sutherland, now Maria Windass. But although she pretty much grew up on screen after joining the ITV soap at 19, fans might be surprised to know it wasn’t her first role.
Samia’s first foray into acting was in the crime drama Cracker in 1994, before landing a small role as Charlotte in the popular CITV series Children’s Ward a year later.

Although she appeared on Corrie as an extra when she was young at the age of eight, it wasn’t until a decade later that she became a longtime regular on the show.
However, taking to Instagram this week, Samia shared a snap from her days in Children’s Ward before viewers knew her as hairstylist Maria. The nostalgic snap showed the fresh-faced actress alongside a few other familiar faces.
One of them is her cobblestone co-star Jane Danson, who is best known for playing Leanne Battersby on the Salford-based soap opera. Jane played one of Children Ward’s regular characters, Paula, from 1995 to 1997. She was seen smiling in the photo while Danny Dyer also smiled behind her, decades before playing Mick Carter on EastEnders.
Danny, 43, has only appeared in two episodes of Children’s Ward, the children’s soap was filmed in Bolton at Bolton General Hospital, which is now the Royal Bolton Hospital. The first of his two appearances was in 1989, followed by the second six years later in 1995.
Seeming to have grabbed the image from an online article, she tagged fellow stars of the BAFTA Children’s Award-winning show and wrote; “Wow no, there’s a throwback!”
As already mentioned, this comes weeks after Samia wowed fans with a different flair as old TV footage was unearthed. In 2003, the Eccles-Bron star took part in the celebrity edition of Granada’s singing competition Stars in their Eyes.
The popular show, which ran from 1990 to 2006, had audience members and celebrities impersonating singing stars. Mother-of-two Samia hoped the music video of her as Australian singer Holly Valance on her number one hit Kiss Kiss would never see the light of day again, until this week it was discovered by the account Hunsnet Instagram.
Dressed in a white vest, cargo pants and a bronde wig over her short black hair, a sulky Samia was carried onto the stage by a troupe of male dancers for an explosive performance. Hunsnet joked: “Me in the talent show on my 2003 holibob at Prestatyn dallyn from Pontin.”
Samia replied with a hand over eye emoji asking, “Where did you dig this up from?? #mortified #mwah.” And Hunsnet told him, “Omg that’s peak hun behavior! Please don’t be mortified! THAT’S. EVERYTHING!”
