Coronation Street star Jude Riordan delighted fans by sharing news of his other acting work away from the cobblestones. The 11-year-old is best known for playing Sam Blakeman on the ITV soap opera.
The young actor won the hearts of diehard Corrie fans when he made his Weatherfield debut in 2020 after finding out Nick Tilsley was his father. While getting to know his father, he had a rocky start with Nick’s partner, Leanne Battersby, as she mourned the loss of her three-year-old son, Oliver.
And there was more heartache for the once-crazed space schoolboy when his mother, Natasha Blakeman, was tragically killed in a case of mistaken identity. As she lay in the hospital, little Sam told him how much she meant to him and how worried he was that he hadn’t expressed that he loved her enough while he was alive.

As he struggled to come to terms with his heartbreaking loss, Sam stopped talking but with the help of Roy Cropper he found a love for chess and has since regained his spark. However, Corrie and playing Sam aren’t Jude’s only job.
The soap opera star also appears on Sky’s Brassic as Michelle Keegan’s on-screen son, Tyler Croft. In December, he shared a photo on Instagram from the back of a car, writing, “This is a WRAP on BRASSIC 4. It’s been another fantastic run with the gang.” And Jude had some good news to share with fans of the comedy series as the fourth series is on the way.
Sharing the brand new trailer on his Instagram page, which is run by his parents, Jude wrote, “Reposted by @brassicfans_ BRASSIC 4 IS ON THE GO this fall. Sneek peak. So proud to be part of it, fun 4 year old with the @skytv gang @nowtv.” And fans were quick to share their excitement.
@southportrach said “I can’t wait!!!! This looks so good.” @s6floozy wrote, “Can’t wait…I’m excited for this…” @andy_kendo29 echoed, “Can’t wait for #4.”
@helen210971 replied, “Awesome program…awesome actors!!” @carole.harmon shared, “Love it, can’t wait.” @lydiaalty added: “So excited.”
While many will know Jude from Corrie or Brassic, his rise to fame began in 2017 when he appeared in the Channel 4 documentary The Secret Lives of 4, 5 and 6 Year Olds. And the youngster, who is proudly from St Helens, Merseyside, comes from a talented family, as his father forged a successful career in show business as a TV director.
Paul Riordan broke into a behind-the-scenes role at Hollyoaks before earning directing credits for popular soap operas such as Emmerdale and Casualty. And Jude’s brother Zach recently made his own Weatherfield debut, appearing alongside his brother in scenes on the ITV soap opera.
