We are looking for a management assistant for our school principal, Jadi Taveras. Someone who will co-create an ideal environment for strategic and productive work! Jadi has led the development and implementation of restorative justice, integrated music therapy, culturally responsive curriculum, and programmatic expansion at Esperanza Academy since taking the reins in 2018. He’s a visionary thinker with a big heart and an even bigger inbox. You’ll need to master systems and filter out distractions so Jadi can proactively focus on Esperanza’s future. This rewarding position provides all aspects of direct support to Jadi, in addition to organizational support for Esperanza’s Board of Directors and administrative support to the People Leadership Team. Specific employee objectives:


  • Draft agendas and meeting documents to support the work of the school principal and board;
  • Support the school principal in meetings with his direct reports and the follow-up of urgent and important files;
  • Develop, maintain and organize the school leader’s schedule with an emphasis on identifying priorities and filtering out distractions
  • Manage all travel and event-specific logistics for the school principal
  • Plan and support major events that require the involvement of the headteacher.
  • Reconciles headteacher’s business expenses and manages reimbursements.


  • Under the direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal supports and partners with the administrative team, other offices, and the Board of Trustees to advance Esperanza School’s strategic priorities. .
  • An intuitive and attentive team member who can read between the lines and proactively step in to grasp tasks
  • Rely on their strong interpersonal skills to manage working relationships in a way that reflects a warm, inclusive and trusting work environment
  • Collaborate with the school principal and board chair to coordinate board meetings and relevant communications;
  • Collaborate with the Governance and Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors and actively manage the composition of all directors;
  • Manage board committee calendars and work with committee chairs to support their work with their committee
  • Be at the disposal of the President of the Board of Directors for any support he may need with regard to the management of the school


  • Represents the office of the school principal using excellent written and oral communication skills through various communications and letters, often involving initiative and discretion
  • Produce clear and timely communications with the board, including partnering with the school principal on stewardship work
  • Help prioritize inbound communications and proactively manage a busy and complex schedule.
  • ‚óŹ Work in partnership with the school principal to maintain a clear communication strategy with parents and families.
  • Manage pastoral communication with various constituencies, including community partners, board members, and friends of Esperanza.
  • Occasionally attend meetings on behalf of the Head of School.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Believes in the mission of Esperanza Academy and demonstrates a love for creating systems of equity through access to education.
  • Ability to cultivate strong collaborative relationships internally and externally
  • In response to a rapidly changing environment, the needs of a growing school and a fundraising campaign, the position must be flexible with evening and weekend hours.
  • Interested candidates should have strong written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills; planning experience (Google calendar); have exceptional organizational and management skills; an understanding of how to manage travel logistics; demonstrate the ability to support and partner with one or more energetic leaders in a fast-paced work environment; demonstrated ability to work in a team and work independently with little supervision.

  • Fluent Spanish (preferred)

  • Flexible and agile thinker; strong ability to anticipate and plan effectively, skillfully anticipating and avoiding obstacles.
  • Five or more years of experience as a successful executive assistant or office manager is preferred. Proficiency in the Google suite and Zoom/video meeting software
