POSITION PURPOSE: Pomona College is seeking its next Associate Director, Sustainability, to help the College foster a culture of sustainability on campus and achieve its sustainability goals. Under the direction of the Director of Sustainability and Energy Management, the Sustainability Manager helps lead the College’s sustainability programs and develops, implements and evaluates efforts for the integration of sustainability into campus operations and programs. The position helps develop, improve and maintain environmental stewardship within the campus community and among its constituencies and helps develop strategies for resource conservation and efficiency, community engagement and awareness. community and strategic planning for sustainability. The position is an ex-officio member of the President’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability and works with several campus departments, Claremont Colleges, the City of Claremont, and other colleges and universities. The Sustainability Manager oversees the various programs, activities and services of the Sustainability Office and oversees a team of part-time seasonal students as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Licenses/Certificates: A bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or a related technical/engineering discipline is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience with increasing responsibility in the areas of sustainability, resource management, program implementation and management, event planning and/or or sustainable building design is required, preferably at an institution of higher education.

HOURS REQUIRED: Regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Travel may be required. Regular hours may vary based on College or Division needs.
